Eddie Zacapa
Eddie Zacapa, the executive director of LEC, is a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) and has worked 20 years in the domestic violence prevention field. Eddie developed a curriculum for a year-long, court-approved NVC-based batterers' program (BIP). Recent research has shown a 0% recidivism after 10 years of clients who completed the BIP program in 2008 in El Dorado County. No re-arrests have been recorded in the County of El Dorado during that period.
Eddie has facilitated parenting, anger management as well as BIP and various workshops for individuals, couples and families Visit Eddie’s blog, Harmony of the Heart. -
James Eslick
James Eslick, president of the board of directors, is a state approved Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor and a day rehab specialist with a degree in art. He worked with emotionally disturbed, at-risk teens at a local non-profit. A founding board member of LEC, James facilitated the 52 week batterer intervention program and our child abuse treatment program, and provided prevention education to youth for LEC.

Gabriela Frederickson
Gabriela is a mental health rehabilitation specialist with 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in the areas of prevention and intervention. She is a state approved domestic violence and sexual assault counselor and has worked as a domestic violence counselor and as a facilitator for LEC batterer's intervention program. She has also provided individual domestic violence counseling for children. She is currently a LEC board member. Gabriela holds an AA degree in Community Studies and an AA and BA in Sociology and is in the process of obtaining a MFT degree.

Ruth Zermeno
Ruth has been serving families in El Dorado County for over 26 years, with a focus on Mental Health Prevention and Early Intervention. As a Certified Human Services Counselor, Certified Medical Interpreter and Certified Promotora, Ruth specializes in helping families access and navigate the services and resources they need to support every member of the household. She works closely with therapists during parent sessions to provide culturally competent support, helping to bridge gaps in understanding and trust. Ruth also contributes her expertise as a member of the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB), advocating for student success and family engagement.

Jean is a creative producer, writer, and communications strategist with a deep commitment to socially engaged storytelling.
Jean is founder of the digital strategic communications agency, Universal Hum, producing mission-driven projects that merge narrative and technology to reach wide audiences.
She brings extensive experience consulting with nonprofits, higher education, healthcare, entertainment and community organizations, ensuring accessibility and connection.
